EVERYONE HAS SAT BACK AND LET THIS HAPPEN. IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. EVERY LIBERAL, CONSERVATIVE, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, INDEPENDANT, BLACK , WHITE, BROWN, YELLOW!

WHICH IS THE POINT OF THIS POST FOR THE MOST PART. AND THAT IS THAT SO MANY HAVE LIVED IN A CLOUD TILL NOW.

Thanks for the idea, Mamie. Will just have to learn how to do that, and WHAT A HARD DRIVE LOOKS LIKE. Boy, do I have a lot to learn!
Yet I could teach anything and do simple fixes on equipment in the ER.

Thank goodness that we all have different expertise! What a team! What a boring world it would be if we were all the same.

re ham radios. Thanks for the info. Ham radio operators get interviewed, down here and their contributions made known on TV after hurricanes hit us.

I have this theory that the gov't may be spreading propaganda about the "bird flu" as the next excuse for NOT bringing out troops home.

It's horrible to not trust our own government and it took me a long time to get to this point but, boy, they sure deserve not to be trusted.

I get you, JuniusJnr, I NEVER thought I'd mistrust my gov't, but I can only get slapped down so much. My not being able to get help for my disabled daughter, being told NOT to bring her to Miami, because "she's not black or Cuban...she won't get any help here" and watching Cuban entitlement over the years...set me up for fundamental change in my beliefs. The trust was far more comfortable...but not reality! Shame on me for not seeing it earlier!

Can't change the past, have to deal with NOW.

However, I don't quite understand what you mean...excuse to not bring troops home. I would think that if pandemic flu breaks out, that it would be a great excuse for martial law....God, help us!

I'm with y'all -- I NEVER thought I would have such distrust for our government, but respect and trust are earned -- they have earned neither. If we can't trust our own government, can you just imagine how the people of other countries feel about the United States? I could never understand why the United States was so hated around the world, I think I'm getting the picture.

Part of the anger comes from being told during the illegal Hispanic gang attacks on me and my home, was that "We're going to kill you, you f...ing Anglo bitch" that was spray painted on my inside walls, including opposite my bed, WASN'T racist..."BECAUSE YOU'RE WHITE!

re: dislike around the world.....besides our wonderful policies...I believe that a great part of the hatred is plain, old jealousy!. Our TV shows are beamed around the world...think of the impact...We have porn (maybe soft) but if you're a Muslim or poor, and see all the skin and sex and wealthy, spoiled people...and you think this is how the average American lives.....need I say more?

Come on folks, are we really going to start blaming "teachers" and "liberals." Seems to me the last thing we need to do is go on pointing the fingers at one another-isn't that what helped get us into that mess? We have been so busy getting polarized while our country is over run with poor illiterates. I have taught for 10 yeas now and I am just now quitting because I, like many teachers am fed up with the enabling mentality in our schools. Parents and Aministrators have this idea that we teachers assume ALL of the responsiblitity for America's children. If a kid doesn't come to school with a pencil, it's because I haven't loved him enough. If a kid doesn't turn in an assignment, it's because I am not "connecting" with her. I was actually pulled into a special meeting with my principal and an ESL teacher who both told be I was not doing enough for the Latino children. ENOUGH?? I spent thousands of dollars and worked my tail off to get a science degree for this?? I even speak Spanish!!! Please, don't blame the teachers, most of us just wanted to help some kids-we didn't know we were expected to be their mom, dad and holy saviour. If we lobby for reform it's because we are tired of all of the ridiculous demands coming our way without funding or even a thank you.

Also, I wanted to mention that I have seen an alarming change in recent years with the Mexican Immigrant population-I swear those kids used to appreciate my help. Now days, they are mostly behaving resentfully. I don't know what has changed. I would appreciate any feeback from others in the field on this.

RE:Sigh....... Need I remind you guys that we have a republican (conservative) controlled senate, congress and white house so please stop the "this is the liberals fault". If amnesty takes place, it will be upon the Republican parties' watch that our nation was sold out for cheap labor.


Very refreshing to read your post. You can see right through the smokescreen and that is a necessary attribute. The R party controls everything as you pointed out and therefore they are responsible if amnesty passes since they can stop it. It can NOT pass if they don't want it to. That is why if amnesty passes I will vote against every R on the ballot on election day 2006.

I'm MORE than on your side! As I said earlier, I respect good teachers.

I believe that education is the responsibility of the PARENT. That the parent MUST work with the teacher...of course. My girls speak 7 & 4 languages...both were in Gifted, AP and the youngest was in the first IB class. NO ONE gave them anything...they worked so very hard!!! I'm so proud of the women they've become. I so equally worried about their futures given the current political state of affairs. And my Grandson's.

And yes, I've seen the increasingly hostile attitudes in my young Hispanic patients. Floored me.
