Thanks. I enjoy this place wayyy too much and am enjoying myself as well but I am soooo trying not to make a habit of this. I have some jalapeno enchiladas to go make and some eggrolls. It's my job.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Well, I guess I do have some prejudice in me My stomach totally rejects jalopenos...

Even if you personally ridicule the concept of an invisible friend in the sky the fact remains that some of the guidance contained in the Good Book is healthy for all humans who wish to live alongside each other as well as with themselves, in peace.
Yes,... this says it all. Far as I'm concerned, it will happen someday.

Rev: 21:4,5, 6 - "And death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain.. for the former things have passed away" (not exact quote). "And a new heaven and new earth came down from the heavens..."

These verses gave me the only hope I could muster after the suicide death of my first husband one month after our son was born and me 20 years old; and again after the death of that same son, my firstborn, 22 years later. And the stigma I suffered and still do to some extent because of a condition I was born with. Though terrible, there is a reason under heaven... I try to keep hoping that anyway!

Sounds like you've been through a lot, but your trials have made you stronger. Me too.

Ok, enough of this... Peace to all!

OPS! (Original Post Post Script) Lest anybody think we are whiners. Take a look. The supposedly minority communities have great race-based support of each other, especially whenever in mixed company. The "white" people do not do the same for each other. I suspect the biggest reason is because they fear once again being accused of racism. "White" people also do not accept reports of discrimination from each other because so many are brainwashed that minorities are incapable of perpetuating discrimination. Therefore they do not support each other. Minorities see discrimination even when there is not, and they receive community support even when the diagnosis is erroneous. So the stress on "whites" is much worse.

Sarum have you ever heard of The Melungeons?

They have characteristics that range from those of the whites and American Indians to Orientals or Negroes. This variation prevented a definite race classification, and has also given rise to numerous theories concerning their origin.

Yes I have. It is claimed that the King, Elvis Presley, was of Melungeon descent.

Mixed race is an interesting topic to me. As one gazes across the globe and looks at the features of the people of each nation, it is clear, to my eyes at least, that people have been interbreeding for eons. In grade school we are taught that there are 4 basic racial groups, which may be true, but there are so many that fit in no category due to their mixture.

Here in the US we have less history behind us and so we are more likely to suffer from a conservative view (or is it merely prudent?) towards the mixing but I think that on other parts of the globe people are more aware of the history - for example on a Russian website a young woman wrote that her people were all blonde and blue-eyed until the Mongols came, and of course that was centuries ago but the racial mix persists to this day, with acceptance and little to no pain around it. Then I saw an article pop up recently that Lincoln did not believe that the descendants of slaves should stay living in the US and that he actually encouraged them to move to Central America. I see how albino's in Africa are hunted and killed for various reasons. I just look at this stuff and wonder how long it will take us to get over this racial crap or is it merely the human condition? Or will we have to face an alien race from another galaxy before we get a grip on ourselves?

There is also an NDN tribe back there (the name escapes me right now) who have been fighting to be recognized as a tribe for a very long time. I recall that the government's problem with giving them legal tribal status is that they have too much "white" blood in them. But I am aware of other tribes who have legal identity and have fought in court to have tribal benefits, like opening their own casino, who also are very obviously extremely mixed with other races, in one instance - African. Wonder if this is related to the OP?
