U.S. Press "would rather continue helping Americans not understand" than cover Ron Paul - Economist

    Current Events

From the Economist of April 18, 2011:
I think Mr Paul's influence on the ideological cast of American conservatism has been underestimated and underreported, but to take even his influence, if not his candidacy, more seriously would require the talking haircuts and the newspaper typing corps to wrestle with a charged set of geopolitical and economic topics they would rather continue helping Americans not understand. So Ron Paul's a proven loser we can neglect with a clear conscience, while it is a matter of great public interest whether or not Michele Bachmann actually attended a family reunion, because, you see, the winner of the Ames straw poll is a real up-and-comer who's pulling down a fearsome 10% in national polls, right up there with non-candidates Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin. Right up there with Ron Paul.

I have heard many pundits over the past few days say the race is over and Dr. Paul can not possibly win. Well here are some examples of people who did not give up before the game or race was over.

You cannot vote for Ron Paul in California primary unless you are registered Republican by 5/21

    Ron Paul 2012

    California

I had 2 separate conversations from friends in San Diego County today that weren't aware they had to be registered Republican to vote for Ron Paul.

One of them received a democratic sample ballot that has Ron Paul on it, but after I mentioned this, she checked it and discovered it does point out the new law that requires you to be registered Republican in order to vote for Republican presidential candidates (ie Ron Paul) in the upcoming primaries in June.

Another conversation was with a coworker and big fan of Dr Paul. He also wasn't aware of the registration requirement. By the end of the day, he and several members of his household were sending their registration in. I also threw it out there that they should consider registering as a RP delegate in the event Dr Paul wins their district.

In the process, I also discovered that the delegate registration page at www.ronpaul2012.com/delegate is no longer available to the public (the page exists, but says it's private). That's where I signed up as a delegate a couple months ago, so I'm not sure why it's changed now.

The point is, the word about registration requirements in California really needs to be spread, and by the end of this week!

The Case for Ron Paul's Agents of Chaos

Fighting the GOP establishment for influence is the only chance they have of drawing attention to their issues at convention time.

By Conor Friedersdorf | May 8 2012, 5:58 PM ET
Reflecting on the indefatigable Ron Paul supporters who are still trying to win delegates at various state GOP conventions, Doug Mataconis writes, "By and large, it appears pretty clear that they are antagonizing mainline Republicans every time they pull this stunt. That's hardly the kind of thing that will win friends and influence people, nor is it the kind of thing you should do if you want to become a voice of influence in the Republican Party as Paul supporters claim that they do."
    ================================================== ==============

Ron Paul Comes Roaring Back (Sort Of)

The Texas representative scores some surprising wins at the Maine and Nevada state conventions. But will he be able to force a brokered convention?

"What Paul's delegates can do is make a fuss. When Romney goes to Tampa for his coronation, there will be plenty of noisy Paul backers around who can make their voices heard in ways other than the actual ballot."

    By David A. Graham | May 8 2012, 10:06 AM ET 29
For months, Ron Paul supporters have been saying that the good doctor's chances have been underestimated, and that his quiet campaign to collect delegates has been far more successful than the media and his opponents would have you believe.

Pretty fair one; of course, the writer has a bit of a soft spot for the Doc:

Is Ron Paul misunderstood? What both sides can learn from the liberty-lovin' Texas congressman

    By Adam Sparks | 05.08.12 | 03:00 pm
It's hard for outsiders to understand the world of Ron Paul. Friedrich Hayek, Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard — Austrian School economists whose ideas form the basis of Paul's ideology — are not exactly household names, and the vast majority of us make it out of high school (and college for that matter) without hearing one word about the Federal Reserve.
Mirrored, posted earlier with different headline: Rationally defending Ron Paul: Detractors and supporters beware

Trouble in Tampa Could Be Spelled 'Ron Paul'

"His problem is that it's increasingly apparent that Paul and his delegates will be a force to be reckoned with at the convention and beyond."
    By Kenneth T. Walsh | May 8, 2012
Presidential candidate Ron Paul's supporters will be furious if he is denied a prominent role, such as a prime-time address, at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this August. If that happens, it's likely that many Paul followers will feel cheated and stage protests in Tampa, then boycott presumptive nominee Mitt Romney in the November election, Paul sources say.

And the losers at AP, beginning to sense... something outside of their Zombie pliant sheeple Android programming would allow:

With Ron Paul, GOP expects Wash. convention battle

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Republican leaders are bracing for a combative Washington state party convention as supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul look to seize more delegates from presumptive nominee Mitt Romney.

...Chris Vance, the former chairman of the state Republican Party, said he expects the state convention to be a battle. Paul's supporters may be particularly successful because so many conservatives have been uncomfortable with Romney and because Paul's loyalists have shown that they are willing to struggle for every last delegate.
"In a caucus convention system, they are formidable," Vance said. "They are motivated. They will come early and stay late."

Another one from AP, this one I believe started circulating immediately after the NV and ME state GOP convention results were announced:

Undeterred, Ron Paul and supporters soldier on

By: ASSOCIATED PRESS | Richmond Times-Dispatch
    Published: May 08, 2012

WASHINGTON — Don't tell Ron Paul the Republican primary is over. He's too busy mucking up Mitt Romney's efforts to accumulate enough convention delegates to officially claim the GOP nomination for president.

Then there's the LATimes' deluded political cartoonist Mr. Know-It-All, who doesn't:

Ron Paul continues to complicate Mitt Romney's coronation

Ron Paul keeps nipping at Mitt Romney's heels

    By David Horsey | May 8, 2012, 5:00 a.m.
Through most of the primary season, Ron Paul was overlooked, underestimated and laughed off. There was no scenario by which this ideological renegade could become the nominee of the ideologically dogmatic Republican Party. Yet as the last candidate standing in the way of Mitt Romney's smooth slide to the nomination, he is proving himself capable of ingenious mischief.

    And, YEAH!

    Paul backers reject compromise

Supporters stick with tea party platform as adopted in 2010

    By Susan M. Cover scover@mainetoday.com
    State House Bureau | 12:00 AM, May 8, 2012

AUGUSTA -- References to Austrian economics and resistance to a "one world government" will remain in the Maine Republican Party platform for the next two years.
On Sunday night, after many delegates had left the party's prolonged and tumultuous state convention at the Augusta Civic Center, supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul rejected a compromise platform that had been crafted over four months, and opted to maintain the tea party platform that was adopted in 2010.

Ron Paul wins Maine, Nevada delegates. But what does it mean?

By Rachel Rose Hartman | The Ticket – Mon, May 7, 2012
Ron Paul has become a footnote in the Republican presidential primary after failing to win first place in any state nominating contest and significantly trailing Mitt Romney in the overall delegate count.

But the Texas congressman still keeps racking up delegates across the country.
    "a footnote"??

    WTF?

Do thse pressitutes have any clue how irrelevant they are to history? A man with MILLIONS of WORLDWIDE supporters who will be carrying on his philosophical message, hell, many of whom have built entire liberty enterprises around him, and will continue to pay, invest, support and show up, no matter what anyone thinks, is gonna far outlast ANY MSM scribe or know-it-all nobody wonks.

Talk about delusional; when all is said and done, these delusional MSM kids won't even be a popped zit in the footnotes of footnotes of footnotes of history. The only 'history' they'll make is whatever is left on NSA/Google/Facebook servers which frankly with billions, possibly trillions of pages, who's gonna care?
Pardon, as if it's news, but seriously it's hard not to just absolutely get vexed reading these little snide petulant dolts who continue to ridicule, literally the smartest man in DC, if not in all of public service. Gosh dang it! argghhgghgh!

PS. Hope you guys take the time when it permits and occasionally remind yourselves just what a beautiful bunch of souls y'all are: you guys do realize that IF WE ALL WANTED TO, we got enough diversity in skills within the R3VOLution anywhere from plumbers mechanics, welders, artists, designers, writers, philosophers, poets, musicians, film makers, engineers, computer scientists, business(wo)men/entrepreneurs/investors, inventors, farmers, genetic scientists, bio-mechanical engineers, architects, nurses, medical doctors, nutritionists/alt.medicine/holistic/homeopathy specialists, spiritual gurus pastors/monks/imams/rabbis from practically all faiths, tactical shooters/ex-cops/vets, etc. among us to literally be our own little self contained country or start an entirely new civilization, right? .D
I for one, am grateful to be among y'all and gotten a chance to 'hear' from even just some of ya!

And, please start making liberty babies, y'all. Have you seen how beautiful all of you are? Take a gander.

    Hell, revel in it: http://www.dailypaul.com/227397/pix-have-you-seen-yourselves...

Not related to the delegate strategy, but on gold, and a pretty good OpEd recognizing Dr. Paul's nuance on "Competing Currencies":

Ron Paul Has a Gold Ally in the Buffett Family

By John DeFeo 05/08/12 - 10:45 AM EDT
The late-Congressman Howard Buffett is a posthumous pillar of the Libertarian party, the anti-war movement and asset-backed currency -- the "Ron Paul of his day," according to Philip Klein. And on the subject of gold, Buffett Sr. may have penned the best-ever essay in support of a gold standard: "Human Freedom Rests on Gold-Redeemable Money."
    Howard Buffet:
"Is there a connection between Human Freedom and A Gold Redeemable Money? At first glance it would seem that money belongs to the world of economics and human freedom to the political sphere."

One wonders what truly go wrong with their progeny; had Howard Buffet been alive today, if he were truly a principled man, as oft cited to be, I cannot imagine him supporting ANYONE other than Dr. Paul; does the following description not sound EXACTLY like Dr. Paul's guiding principles, too?
Leila Buffett, Warren Buffett's mother, recounted that her husband said he considered only one issue when deciding whether to vote for a bill: "Will this add to, or subtract from, human liberty?" Now that's a concept that more policymakers, business leaders, their economists and advisers should ask of themselves.
