yaotl, The American Indians did not come from the Olmec. They were Asians that came across the Bearing Straits. When they got to Mexico some of them went into the Baja peninsula and the others into mainland Mexico. The ones who went to Baja were surrounded by the richest marine life on the planet but never learned to fish. I think your family may have been a member of that group.
I was unaware that the Europeans stole your art in fact I didn't know you had art before spray paint.
Anyway love what you guys have done with Mexico. What is your departure date?

I agree with all here. This is a bunch of revisionist BS. Of course this is a great example of "multiculturalism" at work. Multiculturalism taken to it's natural extension or conclusion would/will destroy any and all American history & heroes...
Along the same lines as revisionism - it pisses me off when people try to take anything out of historical context and then also further bastardize those events by trying to apply todays social mores to those events. Americans have made mistakes like anyone else and yes even done some screwed up stuff. However we have nothing to feel guilty about. We don't owe you ANYTHING! I am proud to live in America and proud to be an American! If that bothers you.....[b]Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.

This TICKS me off so much when i hear this BS I am also native american, and all i have to say is accept your past. Civilizations have risen and fallen for many reason from this beginning of the "civilized" world. How can anyone in their right mind ask for reparations??? How asinine! In my opinoin, it only shows their ignorance and outlandish thinking as well as their anger/spite towards "Europeans".
Now define European??? How can the majority of this country be "European" if they were born on this continent? And if we're looking at descent, how many of them are mestizo? So wouldn't that make them of European descent also?
FED UP!"Remember the Alamo!"

Another socialist, sociopath who blames everyone else for his own shortcomings. He is a harmless dweeb, unless and until our own politicians enable him with their bleeding heart, multicultural clap trap.

Most the Native American Indian tribes fought between themselves fiercely. They would protect themselves to the last person if need be. People in the south who would venture into the Indian lands would end up dead if not very careful. There would be some trades between some of the tribes but there were also just as many raiding parties. The blackfeet tribes were around Montana area. This is where my great great grandmother was from and was a Blackfoot Indian she settled with my great great grandfather in northern Minnesota.

The history of mankind is fraught with war and conquest. To go back centuries and use these events as an arguing point on why one group owes another group is counterproductive.
That isn't to say that we should not acknowledge past injustices and work to correct any that exist today. But, I think these groups who use these identity-based grievances are just trying to extort special privileges and benefits by using the guilt card.
They remind me of children who exploit their parents' guilt over something in order to get whatever they want from them. It is to their advantage to keep the guilt going because if the parents ever wise up and stop feeling guilty the kids might actually have to go out and earn their money instead of manipulating their parents.

We seem to be back to the turn of the 20th Century, with robber barons galore and poverty growing and irrational fear of immigrants growing even faster.
Latinos are following exactly the pattern of those immigrants, both legal and illegal, who came before. The first generation, those who immigrated, hold on to language and customs. The second generation, their children, have a foot in both worlds. The third generation, the grandchildren of the immigrants, often speak only English in the grand tradition we've inherited from our British roots. My wife was four when she came here, illegally with her parents, and they contributed taxes, both sale and through income withdrawals while hiding origins, without receiving the benefits of citizenship. They then became legal residents when allowed to do so. Their children are as American as apple pie and their grandchildren barely speak a word of Spanish --- I view that as a tragedy we're trying to overcome, but the point is that it happened and it is the same route travelled by immigrants to this country since the beginning. Are we to throw out our current attorney general in light of his family history?
Racism is this nation's ugliest aspect, from slavery down through discrimination of all types against all "others". It's sad to see us treading down that path once again. My children, my little anglatinos, are just as American as any of us, just as is my wife --- a model naturalized citizen who believe above all that the greatest gift our founders gave us was freedom of speech and the freedom to differ. Our differences make us stronger, not weaker. Our new residents and citizens also make us stronger, not weaker. Folks such as the "Minutemen", and I'll avoid the jokes that spring to mind, are merely an illustration of our occasional national tendency toward the absurd.
But you have the right to differ, and that, far more than somehow wishing to keep our country "pure" or whatever the motivation may be, is what makes this country a good country. If we'd only toss in guaranteed health care to our residents and a reasonable guarantee of retirement benefits, we'd actually overcome our occasional shortsightedness and be great.
Y'all are good folks, but keep in mind most latinos are, too. Look at the names of the dead and wounded in this useless and foolish war we're now fighting and note how many of those you fear are giving their lives while we sit at home and debate their worth as both citizens and human beings.
