I also had a change in opinion due to one of my students. I am an AVID coordinator helping students go to college, but how can I help this student who was brought here as a child and must suffer through his parents mistakes because he cant qualify for financial aid. I dont think it's fair that some illegal immigrants, that deserve to be in here have to be categorize with the overall perspective of illegal immigrants. I know that we are against giving 12+ million people citizenship, including myself but shouldnt we let people like one of my students an opputunity. After all, they would just help increase the economy for the U.S> He told me about the "Dream Act" and how it can help him and others in his position. I am against legalizing 12+ million people. But I am for the Dream Act.

What do you think?.... I know that there are many conservative people, but we would never be able to beat illegal immigrants without making some sacrifices.

What do i think? Well, we beat back a Multi-Billon Dollar Open Borders Lobby today without spending even 5% of what it cost them to fight us, and we didn't sacrifice our principles doing it buy bargaining on anything such as the Dream Act. America has had a bedrock principle of never bargaining with terroist. Today, America established another bedrock principle, we don't bargin with law breakers

Yeah, we need 'em all right. I just don't know how we got along without them for so long We don't have a problem "sharing the wealth" as you call it as long as we're sharing with other Americans. We send more money to other countries than any other nation on the planet, too. How much money do you suppose mesyco, for example, sends to other countries to help out?? Can you say "zero"?

Illegal aliens are the backbone of the U.S.A.???? You're delusional. You wouldn't know the truth if it smacked you in the forehead.

    I repeat....

I'm just curious as to whether or not your job depends on "people who need federal assistance". Because there are always people in need, we can throw money at the problems all day and all night and yet there will always be need.
I find that people who have your attitude are typically government employees like teachers or social workers. That and the fact that you've yet to answer it.
So is your job a tax payer funded position?

The U.S. is the most charitable nation in the world. Arguing that our country doesn't care or share is just a slap in the face. If you immigrate here legally and are in need I will give you the shirt off my back and the last dollar in my pocket. You come here illegally I will give you a ride to the local ICE office.

but notgoingtotakeitanymore.... this is part of the Mexican National Education, they are all taught from Day 1 that:

    1) USA is the cause of all ills in Latin America and the World
    2) USA took Mexican land by force
    3) Mexico is doing the US a favor by providing its cheap labor to us, even if its forced on us
    4) US was actually built on the backs of Mexican and other "natives"

You are so right, Swatchick! Why should people like you pay all the money and jump through all the hoops and sacrifice so much to become an American, only to watch others jump a broken down barbed wire fence and walk right in for free and then demand everything we've worked for for centuries be theirs?

    Right on the money, Swatchick.

That is so true. I like the number 3 point as well.
America's native tribes were not the same groups as Mexicans. In fact the only reason that the southwest part of the US had anything to do with Mexico is because of the Spanish conquistadors.
I actually find it insulting that Mexicans are trying to equate themselves to America's native tribes.

Ahh so you've never actually worked and earned a real living. That explains it. You sound like all those Hollywood and DC elitists who can tell the rest of us how we should live when you don't have a clue as to what it takes to make it on your own.
I'm not interested in receiving your flame mail so keep it to yourself.

The real problem most people have had is why citizenship or amnesty has to be a part of this. I think most of these people relly do not care about citizenship, they are here to work. Because of failed policies and open borders unfortunately millions have come in and like within all populations there are criminal elements. Years ago immigrants came here legally and were forced to assimilate. There were not millions of Italians,Irish etc. taking over cities. There were no multi-cultural propagandists that nurtured their homeland cultures. Being an American meant something. I know this because I have parents and grandparents who immigrated here. We also did not have the "welfare state." Right now the numbers are too high and uncontrollable and until we can get a reasonable grip on this mess I think citizenship should be put on the back burner. I hope that people do not take this as anti-latino or whatever this is not the issue at least in my opinion.
Wilma, you didn't say anything about latinos so if someone sees it that way, they're trying to put words in your mouth. Forget 'em.
