I fired off an email to Numbers voicing my displeasure with the "excellent" rating. I suggest others do the same.
The pledge is one thing, but the rating is flat out wrong.

I really don't think McCain does have a chance at this point , To many people remember him as McAmnesty ,
Also after watching him the past week he appears to be "not all their" , half the time he is reading from que cards.

John Q Public possibly hears the noise about Mike Huckabee being soft on illegal immigration. They are concerned. Then, on the television yesterday they see a BIG poster with a BIG NUMBERSUSA at the top and a NO AMNESTY PLEDGE written across the poster. Mike Huckabee leans over and signs the poster. Now maybe John Q Public then goes over to NumbersUSA to investigate further. What do they see? First page, Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is the first to sign a No Amnesty Pledge and he has an "Excellent" rating.
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

No matter how you look at this it can't be a good thing
Even if Huck did get the nom , The dems would slaughter him
in the general , and of course it would completely take
the illegal immigration issue off the table , The dems won't talk about
it and Huck won't either because his record on it sucks
This one is going to be hard to overcome people

Just talked to the phone number on their site.
The poor guy who is answering claims they
have taken the new rating down on Huckaduck.
Put the pressure on now hard, they know they
screwed up and are attempting to cover the tracks.
hit them hard now.....

I just called and raked some poor girl over the coals
She told me if Hillary would sign she probably would also get
an excellent rating
She was going to have me speak to a higher up but strangely they are all away from their desks right now (or hiding under them)

Hillary would get the 'excellent' rating for the 'no amnesty' pledge if she signed the pledge as this is based on public statements/promises, not on past record -- but she won't sign it so the point is moot. Huckabee did, so he got this rating in this category.
Although I'm somewhat surprised by Huckabee signing this, I'm not overly concerned. Huck is most likely not going to win the nom even if he has a good showing in SC (and I think the less well McCain does in SC, the better for our side.) We should concern ourselves with McCain and his duplicitous talking point that "I got the message, we'll secure the border first" which appears to be working at least in some areas.
We have to let voters know that McCain most certainly has NOT gotten the message, that the American people rejected HIS amnesty bill with Ted Kennedy, and that he still believes in massive amnesty.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
