Anyone who actively supports either Democrat or Republican parties should go to the backyard and practice braying like an uninformed jackass because they are one. We must only vote for individuals, regardless of party, who we have determined by personal encounters to be Patriots who will represent us, and not the Chain of Command for Treason..

Third party is gaining speed as it is now at 20%. There is still lots of time to pick up more steam...

Aren't some of you guys being a bit on the alarmist side with how you're laying it on thick with regards to Obama. "Start this country down a dark path of no return . ." Didn't we just go through 8 years of Bush? Following 8 years of Billary? "Start"?? We've been well on the road to Hell for decades now.

Geez. Obama is nothing more than one more slick-talking politician. Pretty much the same as the whole dismal lot of them. My only reason for voting for Obama is the belief (maybe to be proven false later) that he will cause SLIGHTLY less damage than McCain. Talk about damning with faint praise.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing in regards to your support of Obama againt McCain.

I wouldn't give you two cents for either one. However, I defintely don't want a liberal sitting in the White House while a liberal majority is in control of the U.S. Congress.

I wouldn't give either Obama or McCain 2 cents either. I'd like to GIVE THEM my 2-cents. Oh boy would I.

But its like this. There are people on this board who voted for George Bush. Even as he did everything in his power to rip our borders open. And there are people considering voting for McCain. Even as he did everything in his power to rip our borders open. And yet, some of these same people are telling me how terrible, how traitorous, it would be if I voted for Obama. Strange.

I take it as a given that politicians on the presidential level are mostly pawns of the Elites. They've already been bought-and-sold by the Elites just to reach that level. (But its also true, when you look at all the American presidents down through the centuries, they all reflected the zeitgeist of the American culture of their times. The collective will of the American people is always a force in all this, and the Elites be damned.)

This might sound odd, but one of the reasons I'm voting for Obama is that I think he'll be a weak and ineffectual president. He's a lightweight. I don't think he'll be able to get much done (thankfully). Sure, I'm concerned about a Democratic president and a Democratic congress. But I'm more concerned with McCain in that regard. A guy who's spent years in the Senate, has countless cronies among in fellow Senators, and knows how to play Congress like a violin. To me, McCain is much more dangerous. Just my opinon. And like I said, I respect all the other opinions on this board. We all want whats best for America.

ACEBACKWORDS...... it is impossible to know exactly what the new President is going to do.... look at what happened to Bush43....a conservative spending more money than even Kennedy would have....

Obama is a closet socialist... his Dad was a Communist in Kenya.... Obama associated with communists and other radicals of the 60s and 70s in Chicago (William Ayres and Sol Alinsky, the Reverend Wright who preaches Black Liberation Theology)...

McCain is not my candidate either; but at least we have a chance of getting something done to protect the border...just may be!

mdillon: Its a given that we've been dealt a lousy hand of cards this time around. We're all just trying to figure out the best way to play a crappy hand. Like one poster said: "The next president is going to be either McCain or Obama." And I guess the only choice is; which one would do the least damage. Or if one thinks they're equally bad, then go Third Party or don't vote. Them's the breaks.

As a resident of Illinois, I have had the chance to come in contact with Obama's offices, both in Illinois and DC. I see a man who makes up his mind and then looks for facts to support his opinion. I don't see a man open to reasonable arguments from those outside or even inside his party, and certainly not from his constituents. I don't think he will be swayed by anyone. The best I could hope for is that he would be AWOL, as he has from the Senate, or vote "present" as he did in state government. I am deeply concerned about his "citizen of the world" comments and his socialist background. I personally don't want our taxpayers funding programs in Africa, Mexico or anywhere else until Americans are cared for.

    Okay, that's my two cents.

I don't disagree with anything you say, Reggiemay. As someone who's followed Obama more closely than me, is there ANYTHING you like about him?

I certainly have plenty of misgivings about Obama. Immigration is my number one issue, and Obama is a total zero there. My number two issue is the war in Iraq (I want OUT!), so Obama scores points there. My only other reason for voting for Obama is the slim hope that it will have a possitive effect on African-Americans; make them feel more engaged as American citizens. (As a street person, I mostly deal with an alienated underclass of African-American who are seething with rage and hopelessness.)

But mostly it comes down to my profound distaste for McCain. After the McCain/Kennedy bill, McCain should have been driven out of politics. To see him driving towards the White House is a travesty.

I'll probably regret my vote for Obama. I actually voted for Teddy Kennedy in the 1980 Democratic primary, so I already got that stain on my record. If someone like Pat Buchanan or Tancredo were running as a Third Party, I'd vote for them in a second, with pride.

I refuse to vote for Obumbutt or McCrackhead! And if people want to say I'm throwing my vote away on a third party so be it. At least I'm not contributing to putting some idiot in office I don't like. When the $#$% hits the fan I can say I didn’t vote for which ever trash wins. If all the people who don't like either candidate would stop with " I'm not going throw my vote away" and vote third party we'd be able to show America there's more then Republicans & Democrats and start some momentum for future elections!

No, there's not a thing I like about Obama. My opinion is certainly colored by the fact that in his short tenure in the Sentate, he's done NOTHING. It's been my habit, as many other here, to contact my representatives on issue important to me. Obama has been the only one that has never responded. Others here have received correspondence, but I have not.

I certainly understand your position on Iraq, and I also want out. But, I'm of the generation that watched the U.S. flee Vietman. It was a disgrace that I don't want to see repeated and I believe that's a possibility under Obama.

Further, I don't want a "citizen of the world" as my president. I want someone who will love the constitution and the country it represents and will defend both with passion.

I greatly appreciate having a civil conversation with you regarding this very critical election. Politics can make passions run high.
