    There is so much to comment on in this video. Like many of you, I feel disheartened that Dobbs would change his position, cowering to the Latino market and appeasing the left-wing ideologues. It disgusts me.

    First of all, Lou Dobbs, although was hardly given the chance, needed to strongly emphasize that the hatred of him by Latinos and Hispanics is misguided. He should have authoritatively stated the facts:

    That the southern border is wide open and Mexico loves that;

    That many, many illegals who come over here do not respect our laws or our language and act as if Americans owe them something;

    That yes, many illegals are criminals beyond their original crime of entering our country illegally and that is costing us dearly in money and human tragedy;

    That many illegals misinterpret the U.S. Constitution and come here solely to treat the U.S. as a baby factory, so they can have kids here and use and abuse our social, health and economic systems to their benefit, robbing American taxpayers;

    That illegals don't have "civil rights" in our country because they forfeited them by entering here illegally, therefore, they were not violated in any way, but that the reverse is true, that Americans have been violated by illegals who have caused our economy to plummet;

    That we don't need immigration reform, but we need our laws to be strictly enforced;

    That Sheriff Joe Arpaio is one of America's biggest patriots and stands up for those of us who feel betrayed by our cowardly politicians, and that putting criminals in pink clothing in the hot and cold of the Arizona desert is part of the penalty criminals pay because they chose to commit crime;

    That Mexico should clean up their act and get their country in order by taking advantage of all the rich natural resources it has available to them and overthrow the corrupt government if it has to;

    And that being for legal immigration, against illegal immigration and against amnesty for illegals does not mean a person hates Latinos, Hispanics or illegals of any race, but that it means that person loves his/her country and wants our laws enforced and our Constitution respected and upheld.

    As for Lou Dobbs running for office, maybe as a mayor of a city, but certainly not Congress. Not right now, anyway. Like Sarah Palin, he may have a place on the circuit giving speeches and rallying Americans toward true change, but not campaigning for a seat in the U.S. government.

    One other note, John McCain tried to appease and be for amnesty and look where it got him. The mainstream media elected him in the primaries knowing he would get slaughtered in the general election. And that's exactly what happened. Lou Dobbs running for president of the United States is not what America needs.

    Am I really seeing Lou Dobbs talking? It seems he completely turned his back on his previous stand on illegal immigration.

    This is what happens if you become or wanting to become a politician in this country.

    Maybe we need to have someone check the back of his neck for some type of device.

    I am not pleased with a couple of Lou Dobbs comments, and I also believe he could have been more forceful and forthright in the interview. I believe he did what he did as a good gesture of "reaching out". His wife is Mexican-American and he actually may be trying to do the right thing by reaching out, but did not speak his beliefs as well as he could have (let's hope). All I am saying is that after further review of what his reaction to all of this is and what his intentions are/were, then I say we make a decision based on this.

    Nobody is perfect and we will destroy our cause by making quick decisions without internal conversation, including clarification from the man who made the statements himself. Rush to judgments without clarification is like those people who believe every email they get in their inbox is true. Kicking your son out of the house because he finally did something wrong for once shows no loyalty. I can understand if somehow Lou Dobbs has flipped 180-degrees from his previous stance, or has somehow mislead us to believe that he was tough on illegal immigration, but at this point in the game, I am still very skeptical that this is the case.

    I am former military. I stand beside my brothers in arms unless they turn the gun on me and start shooting. I know that I won't agree with them (or Lou Dobbs) 100% of the time, but if they are standing up and fighting the same enemy that I am fighting, I will not turn my back on them. I hope you can see where I am coming from. We conservatives are the thinkers, are we not? Irrationality is not in our nature. Let's find out what the details are first.

    It's really interesting to see that the same mindset that some people had with McCain has again set in with Dobbs. It's the best hope syndrome. If you do not agree with who they think is the "best hope" then you must immediately come up with one of your own or we are doomed. Ye gads.

    Okay, sleep well, dear Cynthia and we'll pick it up tomorrow. I understand that the objective of the Constitution Party is well-intentioned and that it's not their goal to put people out of work, but that unfortunately is exactly what taxed trade will do if the motive is to use those import taxes to underwrite the government.

    The only way to get the jobs back is to run protected managed trade which requires the very tariff agreements between countries that makes that possible that the Constitution Party says it wants "none" of.
    Judy, I agree with what your saying about "protected managed trade" I think, but I need to talk to one of my old buddy economic experts if I can now find one to splain things to me. This is not an area of expertise with me. Cynthia

    Lou Dobbs Debate

    uniteasone
    Glad I could put a little scare in your thoughts. Maybe we all need to be a little scared. Would that prod us into action?
    We have NO "borders"! They are OPEN! The "southern neighbor" is HERE! Ther is a war on our so-called borders!
    I too hope the citenzery will stand up and put an end to the chaos in our country!
    OUR GOVERNMENT WILL NOT!
    What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?

    This whole post is not about Politics but rather giving someone who has helped our side greatly in the past,
    have the chance to redeem himself on Mon. or Tues. If Dobbs can not or will not then it is time to move on.
    Frankly, I do not see a Best Hope out there right now. My Best Hope is that in 2012 the administration that is in power now will be Out in 2012. The Democrats being in total power has been a disaster!

    I'm really can't put my hope on any one person anymore, though there may be some I would accept, otherwise My Best Hope is about the same as yours.

    Sure! The way they're working Free Trade Spin, it's very hard for a lot of people to understand how best to fix the problem and if we're not careful, well-intentioned plans will back-fire.

    Here's my plan that I believe solves most of our problems in short order.

    1. stop illegal immigration - this stops the job loss for Americans, the deflation of American Wages, unsustainability that forces unemployed and underemployeds onto welfare in whole or in part, which increases government spending on entitlements.

    2. pass the FairTax - this gets corporations and businesses out of control of our government, because they no longer pay corporate income-based taxes, they no longer need tax lobbyists in DC, they no longer are looking to the government to increase their bottom-lines through tax schemes, they save hundreds of billions in federal taxes and compliance costs, they now look to consumers for their future earnings, they now focus on their businesses, those who have moved away to avoid tax burdens can and will move their operations back here where they belong

    3. protect our trade - this manages imports against exports with every country, but we have to have agreements with both of these countries to achieve that and still have good relations and fair tariffs so they can sell to us and we can sell to them, this protects our industries against unfair third world low wage low operating costs that our US based companies can't compete with and tells our companies or foreign producers, if you want to see it here, then you're going to have to make it here and hire American Workers. Sure, we'll trade and we'll buy some stuff from you and you'll buy some stuff from us but it will be managed protected trade so you don't end up with all our jobs and money supply and bankrupt our nation.

    4. legalize/regulate/tax under 2 the illegal drug trade, use part of the FairTaxes to better educate the public on the risk and consequences and provide free rehabitation on demand without stigma for anyone who wants it paid for completely by people who purchased the drugs and paid the FairTaxes on those transactions, this ends the War on Drugs, releases 800,000 people presently in prison on non-violent drug charges, gets them their liberty back, gets them back home to their families, gets them back into the work force, and frees up our LEO to do what we really want them to do which is arrest and deport 20 million or more illegal aliens. We save $70 billion a year on drug enforcement, we make almost $70 billion a year in FairTaxes, that's a $140 billion a year net gain in revenue while at the same time living up to our oath to secure the blessings of liberty for the people of the United States. Until such time as someone hurts another person or damages or steals someone else's property or livelihood, there should be no "crime" that results in a loss of liberty. Ending the War on Drugs with a good civil regulation plan relying upon a civil code instead of a criminal code that requires all aspects of recreational drug production, distribution and sales is handled by US citizens, will also stop the flow of drugs and illegal aliens crossing our borders, will let neighborhoods return to safety free of drug gangs, and all the nastiness of an underworld black market controlled by foreign drug cartel thugs disappears in the United States. Will there still be a drug problem? Sure. But it will be a civil problem dealt with by professionals in drug rehabilitation centers and increased public awareness and better education to reduce impact of drug use on the lives of our citizens. We already know we can't stop it, 100 years of a War on Drugs has proved that the will of the people is stronger than the will of the law in this area, so we need to manage it through good regulations instead of fight it with guns, tasers, arrests, violence and incarcerations.

    5. drill baby drill - lift the bans on oil and gas drilling and end our dependence on foreign oil while we continue to develop affordable and appealing alternative forms of energy. We need to strictly enforce environmental protection regulations under our existing laws or new ones that may be needed as technologies are developed but the increased volume of domestic production and the greater retained earnings of our oil and gas companies will allow them more than sufficient funds to do it right, clean up their spills, act responsibly and still make a ton a money.
